First Bass of the Year!

Went low water fishing today with my Great Uncle and a friend, they were raking for Sandeels so I took the plugging rod. I really wanted to try out a few of the new lures we've got this year but it was windy and the tide was dropping quickly so I decided to cast a few old favourites instead. I found a nice little run that I'd not fished before and after a few casts with a Sub Walk I changed to a Lucky Craft Flash Minnow 110 Real Skin, first cast with an Auroa Black and I had a fish on! Happy days I thought, here comes the first one of the year but then the inevitable happened and it was off. I had a few more casts with the Aurora Black then changed colour to a Bloody Chartereuse Shad (same lure), a few casts later I had another take and after a short fight this little 39cm fella was on the rocks.

What a top way to spend the afternoon ... let's hope it's the first of many this year!
