Sammy 115 and rain!
Monday, May 25, 2009 I was in two minds as to whether or not to fish this morning as a electrical storm was in full swing when I arrived at the same spot I'd fished yesterday. On one hand there was no wind and the tide was pushing and on the other I didn't fancy being chagrilled by a lighting bolt even if it was raining! Anyway I decided to fish and after 20 minutes the rain eased, the storm moved on and the fish started feeding...
It turned out to be another fun 45 minutes with 2 Bass and one Pollack all from a spot that's running like clockwork at the moment, with lots of small fish inshore feeding on baby sandeels.
It was a surface lure that I'd earmarked in an earlier post that did the damage a Lucky Craft Sammy 115 in Baitfish Silver. The first Bass was a small one (pictured top) and the second (pictured bottom) went 2lbs on the nose. Both went back to swim another day. The Pollack was about 1.5lbs and smashed into a Daiwa Saltiga Minnow right at my feet.
We had our first swim of the year yesterday and it was freezing!! Roll on summer I have a feeling it's going to be a great one this year ;-)

I took a couple of my Sammy's for a walk this weekend and moved fish to them. I favour the 115 but at this time of year a 128 fished slow and easy can move fish a little easier than the busier 115. Things are picking up here with the season beginning to move into gear and my sammys and I ready for the surface action.
